![]() Which could be said of nearly all of us to a degree. In my opinion, there is no advantage to trying hybrid anything with an MBox which is generally considered adequate at best.īetter to not complicate your setup and learn to capture the audio better in the first place. I prefer hybrid setups myself, too but it is important to look at the process objectively and not through advertising or GS cause celebre. Even the cabling gets important at this stage of the game. When audiokid is speaking of hybrid systems, he is also speaking of the best quality equipment from the analog front end components to the AD and DA converters. Your Bombfactory plugins are going to be better than that 266 by a long shot. A DBX compressor is not there by a long shot. Using an analog hardware compressor or other analog outboard has advantages over reasonable plugins only after a certain quality/price point has been passed. I mean the real deal (some of which might be free, but I digress). How many HW compressors have you heard? How many plugins have you heard? I don't mean free or cracked plugs. Of course, you will have absolutely no idea if your recording is any good until you have finished the take. That is where the feedback loop is created. You absolutely cannot monitor the inputs. FireWire Audio Interface/MIDI Interface with Pro Tools LE and Additional Software in Mac/PC - 6-in, 8-out 24-bit/96kHz. Try muting the tracks that you are recording to. The problem you are having now is that you're sending your stereo bus out to the compressor to two new tracks.Okay. From there you go to the compressor and back into inputs 1 and 2 into two new tracks. In the case of an MBox 2 Pro, you would import the mix into a stereo track and route the outputs of that track to say outputs 3 and 4. But, with only two outputs on a standard Mbox original or MBox 2 it can't be done. If you have a mix imported into a ProTools session and you have an interface with more than two outputs (like an MBox 2 PRO) it is possible. The 266 isn't a particularly nice compressor. I've heard that some people knows how to do this. The reason why I prefer this way is because I (Personally) think HW Compressors have a more natural sound. ![]() MrMajesty, post: 352929 wrote: I am using DBX 266XL Compressor/Gate. ![]()
